Na In-Woo, who played the male protagonist Gong Soo-Kwang in the drama “Jinxed At First,” mentioned the importance of the “necklace” before the drama’s release. He mentioned that the necklace Lee Seul Bi is wearing holds the key to all of the characters’ secrets and details.
We can guess why the necklace is so important in the original story, the webtoon “The Jinx’s Lover.” Lee Seul-Bi and her mother are shamans who can foretell the future of anyone they touch. Because the touch is supposed to be between bare skins, Lee Seul-Bi always wears gloves to conceal her ability.
Unfortunately, she can’t use her future prediction ability as many times as she wants. According to the original story, shamans can predict the future up to 40 times. Lee Seul-Bi and her mother were born with a gleaming necklace, but as they use the power, the necklace loses its luster.
When the necklace loses all of its lusters, the shamans lose their ability and they die.
A shaman must find someone who can truly love each other in order to break the necklace. Lee Seul-Bi goes to find Gong Soo-Kwang as her prince, but the necklace remains on her neck. The necklace finally breaks apart when Gong Soo-Kwang truly cares about Lee Seul-Bi. Gong Soo-Kwang thought that if he could help Lee Seul-Bi live a normal life, he wouldn’t care much about himself. When he thought that, the curse was lifted.
So, how are Lee Seul-Bi and Gong Soo-Kwang’s lives after the curse is lifted in “Jinxed At First?”
With the release of the drama, the original webtoon began serializing a sequel story about them, in which they are married. In the sequel, Lee Seul-Bi no longer possesses her necklace, but she creates a fake one in order to deceive someone.
We’ll share more about her story as new episodes of the webtoon come out.
