Work Later, Drink Now, a webtoon-based drama, is a unique K-drama in 2021 with the unusual theme of “drinking.” The drama aired on TVING between October 22nd and November 26th, with a total of 12 episodes. The narrative follows three unmarried ladies in their 30s who like getting together after work and drinking together. The three main characters were played by Lee Sun-Bin, Han Sun-Hwa, and Jung Eun-Ji. Choi Si-won of the boy band “Super Junior” played a laidback friend who hangs out with the three women.
In an interview with a Korean media source, actresses Lee Sun-Bin and Han Sun-Hwa discuss the drama “Drink Now, Work Later.” Lee Sun Bin stated that she wished to play a normal, but centered, character who was not overly dazzling. She talked about her role, “I think Ahn So Hee is just a regular person who blends in.”
Lee Sun Bin grew quite close to the two other actresses in the drama, so she was able to behave genuinely in scenes when they drank alcohol together.
“I had a drink with my peers at my house once. We were so close and at ease that we got together at 6 p.m. and spoke and drank till 4:30 a.m.”
Han Sun-Hwa, who played Han Ji Yeon in the drama, received a lot of praise for her performance at the moment where she enthusiastically creates the boilermaker drink. She said that she’d never made boilermaker before.
“I drink quietly most of the time. I learned how to build boilermakers on set. I added lyrics to the drinking song to make it more interesting.”
The cast members also discussed the drama’s Season 2 expectations. Lee Sun-Bin stated, “I know many fans have expectations for the second season. I believe the script was written with Season 2 in mind. Don’t you think the ending of Season 1 is indicative of Season 2? I’m wondering how the story will continue. “
Han Sun-Hwa added, “I never considered the next season since I dedicated my entire self to Season 1. If there’s Season 2, I will work very hard again. “
