Kakao Entertainment will turn “Love Alarm,” a webtoon that has received over 5 billion views worldwide, into a survival reality show.
Chon Kye-Young created the webtoon “Love Alarm,” which was originally serialized on Kakao Webtoon from 2014 to 2022, for a total of 9 seasons. The story takes place in a world where a cellphone app called “Love Alarm” has been developed.
The app will notify you if someone likes you and is nearby. While it is comforting to know that someone is interested in you, if the alarm does not sound, the person around you may be disappointed that you are not interested in him or her.
Kakao Entertainment’s reality show is open for the public to participate in. The participants will be given a “Love Alarm” app that will notify them if someone likes them within a 10-meter radius. The participants will be staying together and competing to see who can get the most alarms.
Kim Min-Jong, the producer of “Real Men,” is in charge of the reality show “Love Alarm.” “We will not only use the webtoon’s “Love Alarm” app, but we will also add different settings and rules for participants to follow,” he said. “We hope that many brave people who want to find true love in a psychological survival situation will join us.”
“Love Alarm” was also made into a Netflix series, with Kim So-Hyun playing the protagonist, Kim Jo-Jo. Jung Ga-Ram and Song-Kang portrayed the two main male characters who were romantically involved with Kim Jo-Jo.
