The opening title of the upcoming webtoon-based drama “Tomorrow” has been revealed. The drama’s main cast, including Kim Hee-Sun and Rowoon, appears in the opening title with the cinematic effect that their bodies are wrapped in mysterious red threads. What do these red threads mean?
Known as the “Red Thread of Fate,” the Red Thread is an ancient Chinese legend that states that it connects people, particularly lovers, and a superstition that arose from this is widely believed throughout East Asia.
The red thread can also be seen in the original webtoon character, Goo Ryun, who is played by Kim Hee-Sun in the drama.
In the original webtoon, Goo Ryun wears a red thread wrapped around her left wrist like a bracelet, and her nails are painted black. She wears the bracelet-like red thread to hide her scars.
Those who commit suicide in the webtoon “Tomorrow” are punished by having their red thread of fate severed. As a result, they can’t meet the people they used to be in relationships with.
Even though no information has been given about the role of the red thread in the drama version, we can guess that it will play a big part in the episodes based on how it is shown in the opening title.
“Tomorrow” will be available on Netflix on April 1st.
