Hwang Dong-Hyuk, the director of Netflix’s “Squid Game,” sent an invitation letter to the audience, revealing details about the upcoming second season. In the letter, the director discussed who will return in the game’s second round.
He stated that “Gi-Hun returns,” implying that the winner of the “Squid Game,” Seong Gi-Hun, will return in the second season. At the end of the first season, he had dyed his hair red and was on his way to see his daughter by taking a plane. However, after seeing Dakji Man at the airport, he decided not to fly. In an interview, the director stated, “In season 2, Gi-Hun will do something for the world.”
The director also mentioned the return of the Front Man in his letter. Front Man’s identity was revealed in the first season to be that he was the missing brother of detective Hwang Jun-Ho. The second season will most likely tell the story of what drew the Front Man to the Squid Game in the first place, and how he rose to become the game’s manager.
“The man in the suit with Dakji might be back,” said director Hwang. The Dakji Man was the one who drew Gi-Hun into the game. He reappeared in the final episode of the first season, showing Gi-Hun that he was still on a mission to persuade miserable people to join the Squid Game. He smiled at Gi-Hun, which triggered Gi-Hun to not take the plane.
Finally, the director introduced Cheol-Su as Young-Hee’s boyfriend. Young-Hee is the terrifying robot doll who appeared in the first game of the “Squid Game” and detected and killed the movers. Young-Hee and Cheol-Su are traditional Korean names, similar to the English nursery rhyme Jack and Jill. If a new game appears in the second season of the drama, “Cheol-Su” is most likely the one who makes a shocking appearance in the game.
The return of the global hit drama “Squid Game” is exciting news. We’ll keep you updated as more information about the second season becomes available.
