The fourth episode of “Little Women” revealed many details about what the audience had been wondering about, including the deadly blue orchid.
These orchids have appeared in major accidents since the first episode of the drama.
The orchid, it turns out, belongs to the Won family, who use it to commit crimes. Let’s look at the blue orchid in detail and why it’s so important in the story of “Little Women.”
The blue orchid, discovered by In-Kyung and her friend Jong-Ho, is known as “the Ghost of Vietnam.” It is also known as the “Orchid of Death,” because those who tried to obtain the orchids from the Vietnamese jungles all died.
The Won family, on the other hand, kept hundreds of blue orchids in their secret orchid room inside their house.
Sang-A, Jae-Sang’s wife and Hyo-Rin’s mother, brought In-Hye to the room where there’s a big tree full of blue orchids.
Sang-A picked one orchid from the tree and gave it to In-Hye. The orchid is poisonous, and when In-Hye smelled it, her heartbeat quickened and she felt dizzy. She soon suffered from auditory hallucinations, and she was taken to the hospital.
How did the Won family grow hundreds of orchids inside their home when it’s been difficult for others to even obtain one? According to the drama’s official character descriptions, Sang-A’s father, General Won, is a Vietnam War hero. General Won brought the orchid back home during the war and used it as a family symbol.
The family appears to have a strong bond under the name “Orchid,” which they use to demonstrate their abilities. The family’s business, where In-Joo previously worked, is called “Orchid Construction.”
Because both General Won and his son Sang-Woo are in the hospital, it’s likely that Sang-A, along with her husband Jae-Sang, is now in charge of the family.
Sang-A’s luxury shoes, which were given to Hwa-Young’s and later to In-Joo’s, were named “Velvet Orchid.” Furthermore, Jae-Sang, the politician who runs the family business, wears an orchid-shaped brooch.
The deadly blue orchid has appeared in all of the major accidents in “Little Women,” including Hwa-Young’s room when she died and two other car accidents. The people who died in the car accidents were both important people who knew about the Won family’s dirty secrets.
As In-Kyung and Jong-Ho show the blue orchid to In-Joo in the 5th episode trailer, it’s likely that the orchid will continue to be a key for the sisters to discover the truth about the Won family.
The drama becomes more interesting as more secrets and stories about each character are revealed. Please stay tuned for more reviews of the “Little Women” drama series in the coming weeks.
