The protagonists’ roles in the upcoming drama “Joseon’s Ban on Marriage” have been confirmed. Kim Young-Dae, Park Ju-Hyun, and Kim Woo-Suk will play the three protagonists in the drama.
“Joseon’s Ban on Marriage” is based on Chun Zi-Hye’s web novel of the same name. In 2019, the novel was adapted into a webtoon and serialized in Naver Webtoon until 2021. The novel is set in ancient Korea during the Joseon era when marriage was forbidden.
Lee Heon is a sad king who is still mourning the loss of his crown princess. Due to his depression, he issued an order prohibiting anyone from marrying in Joeson for seven years. When it comes to love, he is a person who devotes himself.
Ye So-Rang is a well-known fortuneteller in her town because she pretends to have shamanic abilities. When King Lee Heon learns about her, he hires her to ask if she could bring the soul of the crown princess to him.
Kim Woo-Suk, best known for his role in “Military Prosecutor Doberman,” plays Lee Shin Won in the drama.
Lee Shin-Won is a captain in the state police and a childhood friend of King Lee Heon. He is the only person who can petition the King to lift the country’s ban on marriage.
In addition, the rapper Giriboy has been cast in the role of webtoon artist Jeong Do-Seok. Jeong Do-Seok was a well-known painter who now lives alone in the mountains.
The drama will be directed by the director of “My Secret Terrius,” and the script will be written by the author of the original novel. “Joseon’s Ban on Marriage” will be released in the second half of 2022.
