On May 31st, Netflix announced the cast for “D.P. 2,” which will include actors who did not appear in the first season. Ji Jin-Hee and Kim Ji-Hyun will be in the next season. They will join Jung Hae-In and Koo Kyo-Hwan, who were the main characters in the first season and worked well together as the Deserter Pursuit team.
Ji Jin-Hee portrays Gu Ja-Un, the Head of the Legal Department at Army Headquarters, while Kim Ji-Eun plays Lieutenant Colonel Seo-Eun, the Operations Chief of the Defense Prosecutors’ Office. Ji Jin-Hee and Kim Ji-Hyun’s roles in the second season of “D.P.” are both original characters who did not appear in the original webtoon “D.P. Dog’s Day,” raising the possibility that a new story will be told.
Along with the new cast, Son Suk-Ku and Kim Sung-Kyun from season one will return for the second season. In the first season, the two actors played conflicting roles: one as a captain with commanding abilities and the other as a Sergeant First Class in charge of leading the soldiers.
The first season of “D.P.” focuses on two parts that are mainly adapted from its original webtoon. The first part of the story tells us that the D.P. team goes to find military deserters, apprehend them, and return them to the military. The second part tells the story of military bullying, in which a junior military soldier who was bullied seeks vengeance on the senior, who has already been discharged and is now a civilian.
“D.P.” won Best Drama at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards, one of the most prestigious awards in the K-drama industry, for its excellent plot and distinct characteristics. Another great drama for K-drama fans is likely to follow as the cast and production team from the first season return for the second season.
