Bae Hyun-Sung made his acting debut as a minor character in the drama “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.” Since then, he has appeared in dramas such as “Extraordinary You” and “Hospital Playlist.” He played a high school student in his most popular drama, “Our Blues,” and began to be recognized by drama fans.
“My parents’ friends and relatives are getting to know me more and more,” Bae Hyun-Sung said. “People ask for my autograph when I visit my parents. I feel more recognized now than when I played the role in the drama ‘Hospital Playlist.’ There have been foreign fans of ‘Out Blues’ since it was released on Netflix. On SNS, they leave me a lot of comments in foreign languages,” he said.
Bae Hyun-Sung has primarily played high school and college student characters due to his youthful appearance, but he is eager to try new roles. “I want to broaden my acting horizons,” he explained. “I want to play a character who appears to be a good person on the surface but is actually a villain.” He continued, “I hope my acting will have a variety of emotions and twists. I want to be the type of actor that the audience will watch the drama because I was chosen to act in it.”
In the upcoming drama “Gaus Electronics,” Bae Hyun-Sung plays a very different character than he has in the past. The drama is based on a popular webtoon about an office comedy. Bae Hyun-Sung plays Baek Ma-Tan, the successor of Gaus Electronics’ competitor company.
“I think ‘Gaussian Electronics’ will satisfy my acting thirst,” he said. “Unlike my previous character, I intend to show a variety of odd and cheerful sides. The actions of the character Baek Ma-Tan are amusing. Because he is a conglomerate, what he considers normal may not be considered normal by others.”
