The 20th episode of season one of “Alchemy of Souls” was shocking, and it raised many questions about the upcoming season. In this post, we’ll compare the season one finale to the season two trailer and make some educated guesses about how the story will progress for five key characters: Jang Uk, Nak-Su, Mu-Deok, Jin-Mu, and Master Lee.
We’ll start with the easy one, about Master Lee. For years, Master Lee had his own training method for not dating women. Then, for the first time in his life, he fell in love with Kim Doju. When he saw Kim Doju happily holding Park Jin’s hands, Master Lee cried like a child.
Given that he’s over 100 years old, it’s sad but amusing to see him crying with a runny nose.
Master Lee has been wearing a scarf all the time since Kim Doju gave it to him in the first season, but he is not wearing it in the second season trailer. This most likely means he has given up on Kim Doju and is returning to his old training method.
The protagonist, Jang Uk, is the next person we’ll discuss.
Jang Uk awoke and walked out of the fire in the 20th episode. He appeared determined, as if he knew exactly what he was going to do next.
Jang Uk was a laid-back and humorous character in the first season, but in the second season trailer, he is sharp and aggressive. He is no longer Cheonbugwan’s heir, so he is not wielding his father’s sword. Instead, he starts using his fiancée’s sword.
Jang Uk starts hunting soul shifters to get revenge for the death of his fiancee or to save the world.
Meanwhile, Jin-Mu, who manipulated Mu-Deok and killed Jang Uk, appears to be getting promoted. In the second season of the “Alchemy of Souls” trailer, he wears the uniform of Cheonbugwan’s chief.
Because he has control over the soul shifters, he will most likely send assassins to Jang Uk and others for his own benefit.
The second season’s most curious part is whether Mu-Deok is still alive, and if so, who saved her. There are many theories about who the two women who saved her in the end were, and most believe they were members of the Jin family.
Jin Ho-Gyeong, the Jin family’s chief, began to suspect Mu-Deok was her missing daughter. She then directed her daughter, Jin Cho-Yeon, to locate Mu-Deok.
The two women who saved Mu-Deok’s clothes matched those who attended Jin Cho-Yeon’s wedding. This increases the possibility that the Jin family saved Mu-Deok from drowning.
Finally, “Alchemy of Souls” fans are wondering how Nak-Su will appear in the second season. In the first season, Nak-Su’s body was burned, but she reappears in the second season trailer wearing a white dress. There are two possibilities for how this occurred.
The first is that, like Jang-Uk, she was revived by the ice stone’s power. Perhaps Master Lee, who already knows how things will turn out, helped bring her back to life.
Another theory about Nak-Su is that she has not been revived and only appears in the dream. The background in the scene where she appeared was hazy, and she was surrounded by flowers.
Remember when Jang Uk and the other mages were trapped in the world created by ice stone? Inside the ice stone, the world was foggy, and there were flowers.
The scene in the second season trailer with Nak-Su looks similar, leading the audience to wonder if she’s only alive in the world created by ice stone.
We’ve talked about the stories of five key characters from the second season of “Alchemy of Souls.” The 20th episode of season one didn’t really have a conclusion to the story, but instead opened up so many possibilities for the second season stories.
We’ll have more “Alchemy of Souls” reviews in the coming posts.
