Season 2 of “Alchemy of Souls” is on its way, and it will have 10 episodes. The second season has already begun filming, with Go Yoon-Jung reprising her role as the Shadow Assassin Nak-Su. Nak-Su will be the main character in the second season.
Before the first season came out, the director, Park Joon-Hwa, said that he had split the story of “Alchemy of Souls” into two parts. “It was harder than I expected to include all of the narrative and relationships in the 20 episodes,” he said, adding, “so I decided it at an early stage.”
Now that Nak-Su has been confirmed as the main character for season 2, who else will appear? Jung So-Min, who played Mu-Deok in the first season, is unlikely to return for the second.
“It’s not that Jung So-Min dropped out of the drama cast because she only signed for the first season,” her agency, Blossom Entertainment Corp, explained.
Aside from Mu-Deok, the majority of Daeho’s mages will return in season 2. Lee Jae-Wook, who played Jang Wook, makes an appearance in the second season. Furthermore, Yoo Jun-Sang, Hwang Min-Hyun, Shin Seung-Ho, and Yoo In-Soo will all reprise their roles.
During the first season of “Alchemy of Souls,” Nak-Su’s body gets burned after she transfers her soul to Mu-Deok. Since Go Yoon-Jung plays the lead in the second season, the story of when Nak-Su’s soul was still in her own body is likely to be told.
If the second season of “Alchemy of Souls” is more focused on the past, the relationship between Nak-Su and Seo Yool may be revealed more than in the first season.
