In the first episode of “Again My Life,” Kim Hee-Woo (played by Lee Joon-Gi) confronts and fights a mysterious man. Kim Hee-Woo is defeated, and the man throws him from the roof. Kim Hee-Woo thought his life was over, but he returns to the rooftop and encounters a woman dressed in red robes.
Han Ji-Hyun (played by Cha Joo-Young), the woman in the red robes, is a grim reaper. “If you had one more life remaining, would you use it to arrest Cho Tae-Sub again?” she asks Kim Hee-Woo. Kim Hee-Woo responds, “It’s my job to do it.”
Before Han Ji-Hyun sends Kim Hee-Woo back in time 15 years, she says, “If you get close to Cho Tae-Sub, you might meet me.”
It’s no surprise that Kim Hee-Woo runs into the grim reaper Han Ji-Hyun again in Episode 4, where he attends Cho Tae-Sub’s lecture. Han Ji-Hyun appears as Cho Tae-Sub’s secretary, and Kim Hee-Woo recognizes her. Kim Hee-Woo walks up to her and says, “Thank you very much. I will make every effort to keep my promise.”
“OK, please do,” says Han Ji-Hyun to Kim Hee-Woo. Given her facial expression, it’s unclear whether Han Ji-Hyun recalls Kim Hee-Woo in this scene.
In the same scene from the webtoon “Again My Life,” Han Ji-Hyun does not recognize Kim Hee-Woo. It’s because Han Ji-Hyun in this scene is a person from the past. In the webtoon, Han Ji-Hyun seeks vengeance on Cho Tae-Sub because Cho Tae-Sub murdered her parents. Han Ji-Hyun fails vengeance and is killed, and she seeks a second chance after becoming a grim reaper.
Kim Hee-Woo thought he had met a grim reaper who gave him a second chance, but he didn’t. At the time, Han Ji-Hyun had no recollection of him. When Kim Hee-Woo spoke to her, she probably thought he was a strange man saying random things to her.
Nonetheless, it’s clear that the two are working toward the same goal: punishing Cho Tae-Sub. It’ll be interesting to see how these two interact in the remaining episodes of “Again My Life.”
