Chun Ho-Ryung (played by Bae Jong-Ok) makes an appearance with her lawyer in the final episode of “Again My Life” and regathers those who were defeated by Kim Hee-Woo. She said she wants to reopen the secret club and help the members have power. What kind of person is Chun Ho-Ryung, and what did she do in the original novel “Again My Life?”
The chairman stated in the drama episode that she only needs one thing: money. She isn’t interested in power, and she wants her company, Jewang Group, to be the one that no one dares challenge, even if she isn’t present. She wants her sons and even grandchildren to continue ruling the group.
In the novel “Again My Life,” the chairman appears as a grandfather who adores his family. He has three sons, the eldest of whom was imprisoned. Chun Ho-Ryung explains to his grandson why he did not assist the child’s father when he was arrested and imprisoned. The chairman takes the child to the pond and says, “Look at the carp pouting their mouths for food.”
“They just want to eat something we feed them, and they can’t come out of the pond,” he continues. “I want to create a world where we can enjoy the outside world while those carp are unable to escape the pond,” he explains. Chun Ho-Ryung’s words indicate that he only wants his family to enjoy ruling the world while the rest of the world remains within their boundaries. The chairman further explains to the child that he did not stand for the kid’s father because he was more concerned with creating a safe environment for the entire family.
The words in both the drama and the novel “Again My Life” suggest that the chairman, Chun Ho-Ryung, would go to any length to keep the family in control of the enterprise.
Chun Ho-Ryun in the novel does a lot of groundwork to achieve his goals. First, he makes the sons keep an eye on each other. In addition, he helps prosecutor Kim Seok-Hoon become a congressman. Finally, he devises a strategy to defeat Kim Hee-Woo and nearly kills him.
Following in the footsteps of Cho Tae-Sub from the first season, Jewang group chairman Chun Ho-Ryung would be a strong villain in season 2 of “Again My Life.”
