The webtoon “Street Food Apocalypse” (literal translation) is being developed into a television drama series. On May 13, the comics agency Jaedam Media announced that it had signed a contract with Studio 329. Studio 329 is the drama company that made “Crime Puzzle” and “The Borrowed Body.”
Baekbong created the original webtoon “Street Food Apocalypse,” which was serialized on Kakao Webtoon in 2018. The webtoon depicts a street food battle in which the protagonist visits all of the country’s famous street stalls and challenges them.
Tteokbokki, Oden, Toast, Bungeo-pang, and Hotteok are among the street foods featured in the original work. Each food master has their own set of cooking skills that they use to win the food battle.
“We will create a new feeling drama called Battle Noir by adding noir atmosphere to a street food battle,” a Studio 329 official said. “We plan to make the food from the drama and sell it not just in Korea but also around the world,” the official added.
