According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has canceled the live-action Cowboy Bebop, which premiered on November 19th. Cowboy Bebop’s first season received a lot of expectations as the legendary anime’s first live-action series. Since its debut, Cowboy Bebop fans have been vocal in their belief that the live-action adaptation has lost the allure of the original animation.
The cancellation of the next season may be attributed to a decline in viewing time and negative ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, but fans appear unsurprised by the news. On Twitter, illustrator Jen Bartel expressed her unhappiness with the Cowboy Bebop live-action series.
This version of Cowboy Bebop is a hollow, vapid, sometimes literal shot-for-shot remake that removes most of what made the original series so interesting and endearing to fans. I could go on, but this thread is too long already and I think you get the point: Just watch the anime.
