Toho, the film distribution company, announced Studio Ponoc‘s animated feature film adaptation of A.F. Harrold and Emily Gravett’s best-selling book The Imaginary. The anime’s main staff, a teaser visual, and a teaser trailer were also unveiled. The anime film “The Imaginary” will be released in theaters nationwide in the Summer of 2022. A.F. Harrold, the original book author of “The Imaginary,” expressed his excitement on Studio Ponoc’s official website.
“I’m delighted and honoured that Studio Ponoc saw something special enough in my and Emily’s novel to commit their time and talent to translate it to the big screen. I’m excited and intrigued in equal measure to see how they manage the job of squeezing a book-shaped thing into a film-shaped thing. Knowing Studio Ponoc, though, I don’t doubt that this story is in safe hands.”
The British children’s novel “The Imaginary” was first published in 2014. It is about a little girl named Amanda and her imaginary buddy, Rudger. Mr. Bunting, the evil, hunts the imaginaries, and he chose Rudger as his target. Rudger must find Amanda before Mr. Bunting catches him.
